“First: Naming Our Idols”

Psalm 118:15-19, {15} The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by human hands. {16} They have mouths, but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see. {17} They have ears, but cannot hear, nor is there breath in their mouths. {18} Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them.

II Kings 17:38-41, {38} Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. {39} Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.” {40} They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices. {41} Even while these people were worshiping the LORD, they were serving their idols. To this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their ancestors did.
